What is Sacra Frankicense?

Boswellia sacra grows in the mountainside of Oman. It is named after the Hajar Mountains, It is also called Hojari. This resin contains Boswellic Acid and high amounts of alpha-pinene.  It is wonderful for any type of pain because of its anti-inflammatory properties, and it is quite calming and balancing.  Boswellic acids are resin acids and make up between 30% - 60% of the resin portion of Frankincense. There are studies that have indicated that the boswellic acids in Frankincense possess anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties. The Essential Oil that is distilled from the resin does not contain boswellic acid. The molecules are too heavy to come through the distillation.  This resin has been recently harvested so it is so fresh and the smell is amazing.  The resin has a long history of use from Ayurveda to Traditional Chinese Medicine.

The resin consists of three main components: the essential oil, the oleoresin, and the gum, which is the component that causes the resin to be hard . Many are familiar with Frankincense essential oil, which is only part of the powerful compounds present in the resin, the very light molecules, light enough to travel in the steam during hydrodistillation process. Some very significant components that are not present in the essential oil but can be found in the oil extraction are: Boswellic Acid, Incensole, Incensole acetate and Epilupeol. These are chemicals that were shown to have benefits , in numerous studies,  easily found with a quick internet search.

There are no chemicals involved in the process of obtaining the infused oil.
I am using a very high ratio of resin to oil therefore the result is a highly aromatic oil, very potent, with a scent true to the resin from which it is extracted.  I pulverize the Franincense resin into a powdery granular consistency and place it in my organic olive oil for a minimum of 60 days,  I then strain the oil and use it exclusively with beeswax to create a very potent Frankincense Infused Salve.
